Henning Larsen Architects have collaborated with artist
Olafar Eliasson to design and begin construction on Harpa, a concert hall-convention center in
Reykjavik, Iceland.

Eliasson's major contribution to the building is to the south facade, with glass bricks desinged to reflect colors from the surroundings by day and to be illuminated by LEDs at night.

Harpa’s name is a derivative of the string instrument and the ancient Icelandic name of a month in the old Nordic calendar, which marks the beginning of summer, which is a period of importance in Iceland. The concert hall is 301,000 sq feet and due to open in May of 2011.
