Pasanella and Son Vintners

Down the wall of shuttered South Street Seaport fish shops, the stained glass windows and 14-feet ceilings of Pasanella charmed me. I stepped into the exposed brick, cast-iron columns and distressed wood finishes of the vintners.

The shop began at a pet project of an architect living upstairs, which is quite obvious considering the gorgeous attention to detail. The vintage Fiat overflowing with wine coupled with distressed materials suggest that you should select a bottle and find a place to lay out while you drain it with someone lovely.

Patrons are offered a few strategies for shopping- by the food you plan to compliment (game, fish, pasta, etc..), by region or by budget. You can also pick up antique French corkscrews and titanium crystal glasses.

Panasella also puts together tasting parties, sip and sails (yes, on a boat!) and can accommodate events up to 300 people.
