from bbq to bar close

After dropping in for a Cincinnati Style BBQ house party in Midtown, we headed back downtown, stopping in at the Blue Owl. Steps take you below ground level to a buzzing room.

I requested the Ellison: Hendrick's gin, muddled cucumber and something tart, lime? A gorgeous cocktail. Ideal for the first warm night of the season. After finishing up, we hopped in a cab to the West Village to meet up with my college friend, Boston Mike.

We landed at The Stoned Crow for beer and bourbon. The air was thick with fried food, a peculiar woman with outrageously big and curly red hair stewed in an office, the bartenders insisted that the back room would be closing.

After a round and a few laughs, we were scooted into the main bar room, where we continued to sip, catch up and eventually closed down the bar. I'm never really certain why we, or they or whomever chooses certain bars, but perhaps it was the $4 Budweiser?

(Always wonderful to see my favorite Masshole).
