Massachusetts artist Dan McCarthy does dark: well. The last painting (directly above text) engaged me for a few minutes. Nearly identical to the view from Pt. White dock on Bainbridge Island, it reminds me of nights in my youth where we'd drive down, jump in the water and splash to watch the phosphorescent plankton light around our shapes.
