No-Noodle Lasagne

Growing up with a vegetarian mother, I found myself being served quite a bit of pasta and rice...to the point where I really don't care much for it anymore.

Say Yes to Hoboken is featuring a simply and tempting recipe for Noodle-Free Lasanga (for birds like me!)

  • Ingredients:
2-3 zucchinis, sliced lengthwise about 1/4-inch thick or less
1 jar of your favorite spaghetti sauce*
    fresh spinach, roughly chopped
    16oz. container of cottage cheese
2-3 cups of grated mozzarella cheese
    freshly grated parmigiano-reggiano cheese
    1 egg
    about 1/2 tsp dried basil
    ground pepper

    • Directions:
Mix together cottage cheese, egg, basil and pepper. Slice zucchini about 1/4-inch thick or less. Cover bottom of glass baking dish with sauce, and then layer the following: zucchini, spinach, sauce, cottage cheese mixture, mozzarella. Repeat. Top with fresh parm, sprinkle with dried basil. Cover with foil and bake at 350-degrees for 1 hour, removing foil for the last 15 minutes of baking

Clare Vivier Tote

I can't decide if I LOVE this tote, or if it's just a little too "mermaid." I keep returning to it though, so that says something. Perhaps I should embrace what may be an inner mermaid? Check it out at Clare Vivier.

For your playful gal pal, or for yourself, this Hot Air Balloon Clutch is a cheap thrill at $24.  You could probably get away with hiding your cigarettes in there too. You know, if you have that secret, dirty habit.

Bi -Color Pitcher

The MoMa store is one of my favorite places to pick up a gift for something that has everything they need- there is always something unusual and beautifully crafted. The Bi-Color Pitcher is a 2008 design from Alessandro Alberti and Blulletta Piccioll.  What would you serve in it? Perhaps a rose-based sangria?

Red Velvet Ganache Cookies

Tookies offers beautifully packaged treats ideal for gifting someone good in your life. I'm pining for the    red velvet- white chocolate chip with ganache half dozen! Yum. I'd definitely pair with a spicy glass of red wine. Check out the yum here.

How to wear a denim shit.

On a whim, I purchased a denim shirt the morning before I boarded a plane for my honeymoon. It's not something I'd typically go for, but it was soft and well-fitted. I love these pairing ideas from Oh Joy! I hadn't considered wearing it with a skirt, but it looks sweet and perfect for weekend brunches.

Vintage Mink Cape

I...love...fur. I know this is a bit of a paradox, as I am an avid lover and supporter of the treatment of Pugs, and other furry creatures. I have been aching to add a new piece to my wardrobe. A cape in particular. I found this great shop on Etsy: Murmaids. The pieces look stunning and in mint quality. I treated myself to this deep honey Mink cape. I'm excited for it to arrive and the weather to cool down!

Happy

What makes you happy? Ultimately, "Happiness," is my consistent answer to what I would like in life. I've found that no matter what debacles or obstacles are put in my path, if I focus on my loving husband, my sweet Pug, Pilgrim (who finds joy in a trip to the Refuse Room or Laundry Room), my friends, family and health- nothing is worth getting to worked up over. I'm curious to see this documentary which explores happiness in various cultures.

Picasso Jasper Ring

I've always been drawn to jewelry crafted from colorful stones. Portland, Oregon-based shop Lively Hood features a varied collection of lovely designs. The Picasso Jasper set in sterling silver is my favorite. Think: fringe boots, skinny jeans and v-neck white tee. Pitch perfect.

Everpurse

I must admit: I get irrationally anxious if my iPhone battery hits 75% or below. I plug it in the moment I get to work- and it stays there, unless I'm popping out to pick-up a coffee or headed to a meeting. I make my husband bring his own charger, when we travel. I plug my phone in while I'm waiting to board a plane. Maybe I need to invest in Everpurse? Contained within a cute pocketbook is a charger designed to keep your smartphone juiced all day. Genius.

WTF Stamp

Yep, I could use this. And use it well. The self-sticking WTF stamp is yours for $10.95 at Paper Source.

British Racing Green

A handful of months ago, I purchase a pair of J.Crew trousers in 'Boulevard Green.' I was a wee bit precarious about the color, it wasn't something I'd typically pick and frankly I lacked blouses to pair with them. The hue of green is growing deeper to my heart. A detail, which aided my excitement in discovering butter London's British Racing Green polish. Wishlisted!
