Christopher Payne Photography

New York photographer Christopher Payne ruffles my feathers a bit with his Asylum series. Having an educational background in architecture, he has a well-defined interest in historic industrial design and deserted buildings. He spent six years exploring and documenting closed mental institutions across the American landscape. The images are a bit haunting, n'est-ce pas? View more at his website.

I'm kind of sad that the Transatlantic Lunatic Asylum in Weston, WV didn't make the cut. It's an amazing building with a haunting past. Great find though.
