brunch at Delicatessen

We popped into Delicatessen for an early brunch on Saturday. The clean layout includes plankwood, mirrors and beaucoup de glass opening up along the sidewalk. The friendly bar keep poured us spicy bloody mary cocktails and widened his eyes as he described the specials. Nearly empty, I'd recommend venturing in during this time as the dinner crowd, albeit easy on the eyes, is noted as chaoticially packed and the music far too loud.

We shared the tuna takati with yuzu and the the jalapeno grits special with sauteed button mushrooms, shrimp and maple-glazed pork belly. The chef came out to cock walk around and gage our reactions. Decent, rather than epic, as he seemed to be assessing his talent. The colors were attractive portions enough to fill. Notable dishes on the menu: cheeseburger spring rolls and truffled artichoke dip. Not exactly worth $100 for two, but we were knee deep in our engagement high.
