Vintage Travel Dolls

I froze when I found this post on vintage dolls from the Netherlands. I had these exact two when I was a little girl! As a young child, my father traveled very often and used to bring me treasures from around the world...these dolls were among my favorite things. Not your typical Barbie, but in the words of my father, "You were definitely on your own program as a child."

H House in Maastricht by Wiel Arets Architects

Situated in Maastricht, Netherlands, the H House is a residential project from architects Wiel Arets.

The internal and external walls are a combination of transparent and opaque varieties of glass. In the interest of privacy, curtains have been strategically placed in the design.

With no structural walls, the building has a few rectangular columns providing support.

A note from the architects:

The combination of transparent and opaque glass, as well as the sliding and fixed portion of the façade, creates a number of different possible responses to the changing of the seasons and the fading of daylight. The spaces of the house are suffused with richness due to the layering of this unadorned configuration, the combination of materials and the variations in use.

Things I'd like to collect for my desk...

I toted my Polaroid camera this morning. After snapping a few photos, (that are idly resting on my desk now) it occurred to me that I need something to protect them in. One of these Kodak Photo Bags (circa 1960'S) would be a great option. You can find them at Present and Correct. Check out the other great finds from the seller below:

Add a little flair to your collection of writing utensils with this solider pen. He's handsome, in that functional meets playful sort of way. I imagine a child may want to take ownership on one as well...

Fairytale stamps: circa 1973 Amsterdam. Although you won't be placing these on envelopes, I think they would look great in a Muji frame on your desk, or perhaps as a tiny gesture to a friend.

Matryoshka folding cards! Another lovely way to keep in touch with your friends and distant relatives!

art in the landscape, Holland

Abstract art by way of Tulip farming in Holland!

The desire for tulips emerged in the Dutch economy during the 17th century. The vivid display is only showcased for a short time before the flowers and cultivated and vegetable crops replace them for the next season. It's not hard to imagine by these photos, but the Netherlands produce more than nine-million bulbs per year. To view more images, navigate here.
