I'd have to say that Calico Jack's isn't a place I'd typically stumble into, but Liz won a happy hour: reason enough to trek all the way over to 2nd Avenue/42nd street (let's get that T line up and running!). The deal: from six to nine p.m. Liz drinks for free, her friends for half price. That drops cocktails, beer and wine down to $3! The bar also offered impromptu food deals all night!
The vibe: entry-level career twenty-somethings who miss the stagger zoo bars of their college town bars. Jello shots and other common lush mixers: Red Headed Sluts, Sex on the Beach, etc... were sold by girls walking around in booty shorts. A DJ bumped mainstream hip hop and rock while instigating debauchery. I hula hooped to earn free drinks (nothing like having a spot light on you as the DJ exclaims, "Is your shirt see-through? Ya! Hula Hoop again! Give her a free drink."), a handful of girls were called up to spin the wheel: what is your fate? A body shot, admit your favorite sex position or hug the bartender (my second free/"earned" drink).
Basically: judgements aside: we had a grand time! Nothing like a little post work bonding. Comradery is key!
