Another wine recommendation-
Sonoma Cutrer: Russian River Chardonnay
($22-25 per bottle in packing stores or online).
What I enjoy about this wine: distinctly Californian with its oaky vanilla and tropical fruit flavors (pear, pineapple).
I feel comfortable drinking Sonoma Cutrer with food, or on its own. It's excellent throughout the seasons and it makes a good gift for the hostess of the dinner party you are attending.
It's difficult to find someone who does not enjoy the craftsmanship of Sonoma's grapes. I do not particularly care for chardonnay, but Russian River 2005 bottles are the excepetion.
