When I take photos, they represent something that I stumbled upon. J Henry Fair takes an encouraging approach: study it, understand all the elements and then he decides if he needs a "spy camera" or "a whole truck load of lights" for the project. I developed an interest in his work upon seeing images of his Creative Destruction set.>The aerial photographs shown are taken from sights poisoned by strip mining. For me, his work communicates a sort of devastating beauty.
