With St. Patrick's Day approaching, a few favorites have been coming out of the woodwork early: Irish Coffees, Soda Bread & the Hoboken Parade.
Zaro's in Grand Central Terminal is offering Irish Soda Bread for $1.99 per loaf. It's sold warm: fresh from the oven with the option to have it sliced (I'd recommend doing so). I bought a loaf yesterday and found myself in line again this afternoon. Moist and subtly sweet: it falls apart in your hands. Delicious.
This Saturday, March 7: the party starts at 7:00am in Hoboken. Wear your green and expect to implement extreme measures in pacing yourself to make it through the afternoon to see the parade an stir up that collegiate enthusiasm. This is one of the few reasons I can think of to venture into Jersey, aside from driving through to another destination.
And to keep yourself warm during this cold nights: a tally of the best Irish Coffees in NYC:
West Village: Dublin 6 (D6) 575 Hudson St
(646) 638-2900
Upper East Side: The Kinsale Tavern 1672 3rd Ave
(212) 348-4370
For the big day: you could get a tee like this from St. Patty's (dot) com.
