If I can set my trypophobia aside, I may check out Yayoi Kusama's exhibit at Chelseas' Gagosian Gallery tomorrow. Born in Japan's Matsumoto City, Kusama moved to New York City in 1958. Having studied Nihonga painting, she was influenced by traditional Japanese periods as well as the post-war experimentation that arose throughout time. In the 1970's, Kusama returned to Japan where she began to write astonishingly surreal and visceral poetry, short stories and novels. She currently resides in Tokyo, where she continues to work. Her work is on display in modern art focused museums and galleries throughout the world.
