the australian
I'd crossed in front of Midtown's 'The Australian' on my way to meetings and finally stepped in for a quick bite an a few glasses of bubbly. Reasonably priced for "pub fare," kudos to the manager for hiring a hostess with an Australian Brogue.
We shared the "Vegetable Nachos," which consisted of blue tortilla chips, your standard cheddar cheese, arguably Asian-Fusion Pico (which had small strips of chicken in it and a sweet flavor? judging by the description of other items on the menu, their "sweet chili sauce"), sour cream and well ripened avocado chunks. Not bad. Nothing to write home about. The lack of AC and heat wave created a true Australian feeling: coupled with the out-of-towners, watching soccer, on the many TVs.
I sipped on cool Australian bubbly. Refreshing. The menu had quite a few lamb-focused dishes that I would likely experiment with- granted I decide to step through the doors again. Most likely, admittedly. Perhaps for there M-F, 4-7pm happy-hour?
