Two Great Drugstore Finds

Isn't is great when you find salon quality products in drugstore brands? I recently discovered a few cheap thrills worth mentioning at the Duane Reade downstairs in my my apartment building:

Suave Keratin Infusion Dry Shampoo caught my attention as the price tag is less than five bones and claimed to compare to Bumble & Bumble's quality. The spray did not disappoint, my New York summer humidity laced locks came back to life with a few modest sprays. Think luscious sexy volume, even for fine haired gals like myself.

Let's talk nails. I can't leave home without manicured fingers. I feel naked. I accept this as an issue with myself! With that being said, it's important that I keep the right grooming tools and a few easily applied polishes in my vanity for quick fixes between trips to the salon. Drawn to the hue and the word -complete- on the label (short cut included?), I decided to give Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in I Lilac You a chance. The angled brush works beautifully  two coats dry opaque . I lilac you, too.

Official Royal Baby Cheese

If I could (/needed to) live on one food alone- it would be cheese. Hopefully it would come with wine as a beverage option. To add to my excitement for the arrival of Prince George Alexander Louis, a cheese has been made in his honor. Reason enough to schlep over to Whole Foods Tribeca to investigate whether it's being sold locally!

Youthful Reflections

I'm going to get a little more personal today. My grandfather passed a few days ago. My family had placed him in a memory care home a few months ago when it became clear that he needed therapy as he aged. The process has been challenging and at times funny. I'll hang on to the last afternoon I sat down with him a few weeks ago- he didn't know who I was this particular day as his present reality was in young adulthood. He began to socialize with my husband about delivering milk , "The women. Let me tell you. It's nice to deliver milk to these good-looking women."  He was a funny guy- and a martini at 5:00pm sharp every day kind of man. Read his obituary at the Pittsburgh Post Gazette.

Dog & Owner Pairings

Do you resemble your dog? Photographer Sebastian Magnani has created a fantastic mash-up of dog faces photoshopped over their owners. The result is a funny comparison which reminds me of the Doggelgangers service. Lingering curiosity...do I look like my Pug, Pilgrim? What I do know is that when he and husband are both starring at me with their big and sweet brown eyes- I am reduced to pudding!
